myFault uses official maps of California seismic hazards to help you identify the dangers your home, school or workplace could face during an earthquake.
Produced by California Watch, the Golden State's largest investigative reporting team, myFault allows you to search official state maps of landslide, liquefaction and fault zones in order to see which seismic hazards exist near you and how they could affect your family and property.
myFault also includes an earthquake preparation checklist, based on recommendations by emergency responders, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the American Red Cross. And just in case the Big One hits, the app also includes a flashlight (LED-enabled devices only) for use in emergencies.
Hazard maps are based on data from the California Geological Survey. It's important to note that because of minor differences in the ways maps can be projected, our maps may be slightly different than the official versions. myFault shows you how to verify any nearby hazards with official state records.
Remember: The mapping features of this app work only in California. For now, maps of landslide and liquefaction zones primarily cover the San Francisco Bay Area and parts of Southern California, including the Los Angeles area. Fault zone maps cover the entire state.
