Pele - the Hawaiian Goddess of the Volcano - brings athlete tracking for major triathlon events to your iPhone/iPad. Pele allows you to track multiple athletes, multiple events, age group standings of ongoing and historic events and even provides notification when there is a new update for your athlete.
But tracking isn't the only thing Pele does - it also introduces a ranking system. The ranking number indicates the performance independent from the course, weather, or gender. You are able to see your performance improve over different races, compare performances among friends and even find out who is your toughest competition regardless of the course. The highest number of your swim, bike, run ranking shows your weakest discipline. A number close to 100.0 points indicates you are able to hang with the professionals. The higher the number is, the poorer your performance.
Right now the following races are supported:
- Ironman triathlons
- Ironman 70.3 triathlons
Pele targets two groups: athletes and spectators
- Athletes are able to keep track of historic races of themselves and their friends. The ranking system shows how you compare against fellow athletes, compare your performance against different events, and tells you the discipline you need to improve.
- Spectators can follow multiple athletes during a race. They can easily add athletes to their watch list and monitor where all their athletes are at the moment. Pele does all the work for you by letting you know when a new update is available by displaying a red dot beside their name (auto-refresh).
Usage:
- the main screen lists upcoming races as well as your athletes grouped by race
- tap on an upcoming race to add athletes you want to track for this race. Tracking will be enabled a few hours before the start of the race. You will not be able to search for athletes before the race is 'active'.
- tap the 'edit' button to change the order of your athletes within the group. The 'add' button allows you to add athletes to any other race. Search by bib number or part of the last namel.
- tap on an athlete to get detailed information about the race times, age group, current leader board, and the ranking. You are able to change the age group information in the settings page.
- a red dot in the watch list indicates that there is a new update available for your athlete.
